role
We’re seeking an experienced and innovative Data Engineer to join our Data Products team. You’ll help shape and maintain our highly secure and modern data platform, built around Databricks and the Delta Lakehouse architecture.
If you're looking for a dynamic, hands-on role in a small, high-performing team — this is it. At the Electricity Authority, we offer a collaborative environment where you'll work across the full data engineering lifecycle, using modern tools and practices to solve complex, meaningful problems.
This is a hands-on technical role where you’ll:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines
- Collaborate with data architects and senior data engineers to deliver data products that stakeholders can trust and rely on
- Champion best practice data governance and data engineering
- Contribute to the stewardship of
commercially sensitive and PII data
You’ll be part of a small, agile team where everyone contributes across the tech stack — from architecture to deployment. We value initiative, curiosity, and the ability to ‘figure it out’ in a complex, data-rich sector.
Ngā hua ka riro ki a koe | What’s in it for you?
- 1-3 years’ experience in cloud-based data engineering (Azure Databricks preferred)
- Strong skills in SQL and Python
- Familiarity with CI/CD, Azure DevOps, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Experience with Databricks and Delta Lakehouse (or ability to quickly adapt)
- Comfort working in a lean team with broad responsibilities
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and solve problems independently
- Strong communication and
documentation skills
