Financial Analyst

About us

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders’ lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we’re evolving as an organisation – growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.

About the role

We’re looking for someone who enjoys variety, working in a strong supportive team environment, and working with financial data and turning it into useful insights. This newly created Financial Analyst role sits in our Finance team and will play a hands-on role in our budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting processes together with financial accounting duties. You’ll work closely with teams across the Authority to help them understand their financials to make informed decisions. If you enjoy variety, digging into data, spotting trends, and finding ways to improve how things are, apply today.

Our ideal candidate

You’ll bring a good understanding of financial principles, and enjoy working with spreadsheets, models, and data visualisation tools like Power BI. You’ll be someone customer focused who’s comfortable explaining the numbers to others, with strong written and verbal communication skills. A knack for organisation and attention to detail will serve you well in this role. If you’ve worked in the public sector or a regulatory environment before, that’s a bonus – but we’re more interested in your curiosity, drive to improve things, communication skills and ability to work well with others.

Why work with us?

Electricity plays a critical role in the quality of our lives and businesses. As an electricity kaitiaki our work is diverse, intellectually challenging and contributes to our communities, economy, environment, and the nation as a whole. We are a small but high-impact organisation where talented individuals can make a real difference. We foster an open, collaborative environment that encourages quality, innovation, ongoing learning, and knowledge sharing.

We support a healthy work-life balance and offer a range of benefits to support our teams:

  • Competitive remuneration from $92,501 on your skills & experience, plus a 3% net KiwiSaver contribution
  • Flexible working options
  • Health, wellbeing, and social initiatives, including allowances, Habit Health+ EAP services for you and your whānau, and regular team events
