Senior Analyst (Policy) - Retail and Consumer

We are looking for someone with deep retail electricity sector experience to lead work delivering a high-performing regulatory environment for retailers and consumers. You will be part of the transformation in how the retail sector operates, uses technology and data to provide innovative products and services as consumers access, engage with, and benefit from the electricity system.

The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders’ lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

About the role
You will join the Retail and Consumer policy team, within the Retail and Consumer group. We are responsible for driving consumer outcomes in the electricity system to meet the Authority’s statutory objectives and functions.
We are driving for an energy future where kiwis have confidence and choice, on their terms. Our goals for consumers include affordability access, flexible choices, and trusted advice. By keeping the consumer at the heart of our work, we ensure that the electricity industry is doing the same.
What we’re looking for?
As someone with deep retail-sector electricity experience, you have created innovative, compelling, and consumer-focused solutions. You have a vision and desire to see how the electricity sector can deliver to increasing consumer needs and demands.
You will be comfortable leading regulatory change and giving advice that enables innovation in how consumers use and generate electricity. This includes leading policy projects that enhance the retail electricity regulatory environment, leading to greater consumer participation such as our work on evolving multiple trading and switching.
You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

A familiarity with electricity markets and a relevant background will help you comfortably engage the wider industry and provide technical and policy advice to senior leaders and the Authority Board.
