TWO ROLES: Manager – Network Policy AND Manager – Network Pricing
About us
The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders’ lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.
The electricity industry is at a pivotal moment, with the journey towards renewable energy sources and innovation reshaping how we operate. To meet these challenges and opportunities, we’re evolving as an organisation – growing our capabilities, expanding our reach, and building a team ready to create a brighter, more sustainable future for Aotearoa. Our focus is on making a difference through bold thinking, collaboration, and delivering value for the communities we serve.
About the two roles
We are seeking two dynamic and strategic leaders for two key roles in our Networks and System Change group. You will report directly to the General Manager – Networks and System Change and play an integral part in shaping the direction of the Authority’s strategy as it relates to networks and system change. You will be managing high-profile projects, presenting to a sophisticated and experienced Board and leading a team in their engagement with stakeholders, policy analysis and production of public consultation and decision papers.
- Manager, Network Policy: in this role, you will focus on policy development aimed at ensuring networks are supporting an electrified future and delivering benefits to consumers. You will lead a range of initiatives that will ensure networks are optimised and support innovation and investment through better use of network data, smart metering, network access, distributed energy resources and eliminating barriers to network connection.
- Manager, Network Pricing: in this role, your remit will include the pricing methodology and efficient allocation of costs for the national transmission grid and for the electricity distribution networks. If you want to make a difference to the economic incentives faced by electricity consumers via pricing – leading to more efficient network use and investment as we move to a more electrified economy – then we want to hear from you.
Our ideal candidates
You will bring the following:
- A relevant qualification in public policy, economics, finance, engineering or business
- Experience leading in a policy environment
- Previous experience leading and managing a team
- A proven track record of producing high quality work
- Significant stakeholder management experience at senior levels in Government and industry
- An understanding
of the relationships between the different parts of the electricity
industry, including the likely incentives/drivers on participants is
desirable but not necessary.
